Transitional Housing Program

What can I expect?

  • Six months support & accommodation at one of our houses
  • Twenty-four hour in-house support at Blackwattle House located in Macgregor
  • Daily in house support at Oxford House located in Woolloongabba
  • Daytime community access support
  • Help in setting & achieving personal goals
  • Assistance with budgeting, meal preparation & household routines
  • Assistance with managing health, hygiene, & mental health
  • Assistance with community access & social contact
  • Assistance with accommodation searches
  • Support to move on to independent living
  • Up to 3 tenants in house at one time
  • 24 hour on-call support
  • Exit plan

Who is eligible?

  • Eligible for DSQ registration
  • Currently living in unsuitable accommodation
  • On the waiting list for Community Housing
  • At least 18 years of age & have Australian permanent residency
  • Have a primary diagnosis of mental illness
  • Wants to receive support for setting & achieving personal goals
  • Wants to live independently

Referral Process

  • Referred to anam cara
  • Application completed & sent to Department of Communities, Disability Service
  • Eligibility assessment
  • Visit Blackwattle House or Oxford House
  • Accepted into the programme
  • Tenancy Agreement signed & rental payment arranged
  • Move to Transitional House
  • Develop goal plan
